The Bodhran is an Irish frame drum, it’s used in Irish and Australian Bush music and is also a relation to the frame drums of the Middle East.
you play it by holding the drum in one hand and striking the drum’s skin with a small double-headed stick or “tipper”.
In Australia’s colonial times they were made from the frame of an old gold mining sieve and the skin was kangaroo hide.
